Dr. Brian Baxter is a board-certified optometrist with a specialization in ocular disease management and diabetic eye care. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Baxter has established himself as a trusted authority in expert eye care. His career has been marked by a commitment to providing exceptional care and fostering collaborative relationships with both patients and their healthcare teams.
Dr. Baxter earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, before completing his Doctor of Optometry at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He further honed his skills through a fellowship in ocular disease at the Southern Eye Institute in Memphis and an observership in retina care at Retina Centers of North Alabama.
During his 15 years with the Maynor & Mitchell Eye Center in Huntsville, Alabama, Dr. Baxter helped countless patients who struggled with ocular disease and diabetic eye concerns through personalized and comprehensive treatment plans. He worked alongside a multi-specialty team that included experts in the retina, glaucoma, and anterior segment care, providing pre- and post-operative management and collaborating closely with a wide range of healthcare providers, including endocrinologists, rheumatologists, and primary care physicians.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Baxter is deeply engaged in community service. He volunteers at a Community Free Clinic, participates in medical missions, and delivers lectures on ocular disease and diabetes to various community groups and professionals. His passion for patient education and collaboration extends to mentoring the next generation of optometrists through preceptorship roles and continuing education presentations.
